Minecraft is the game most people host with us, and the one the hardware was chosen for. Every Minecraft server runs on two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 CPUs with DDR4-2666 ECC memory, behind zero.ms DDoS filtering.
Server types you can pick
You choose the server software when you create the server, and the panel installs it for you:
- Paper is the right choice for most survival servers and SMPs. It runs Bukkit and Spigot plugins and is much faster than vanilla.
- Purpur is Paper with extra settings for gameplay tweaks.
- Spigot for the rare plugin that still needs it.
- Fabric for lightweight mods and performance mods.
- Folia for experienced admins who want Paper's multi-threaded fork. Most plugins do not support it yet.
- NeoForge installs Minecraft 1.21.1, the version most current NeoForge modpacks use.
- Forge installs Minecraft 1.20.1, the version most Forge modpacks use.
Plans and renewals
Every plan is free. The bigger the plan, the more often you renew it while it is running, because it holds more of the machine:
| Plan | RAM | CPU | Renew every |
| Lite | 1.5 GB | 1.25 cores | 50 minutes |
| Turbo | 3 GB | 1.5 cores | 40 minutes |
| Max | 4.2 GB | 1.8 cores | 30 minutes |
NeoForge and Forge run only on Max, so modpacks have room. A vanilla or Paper server for a group of friends runs comfortably on Lite or Turbo. The renewal guide explains how the timer works and what happens if you miss it.
How to start
- Go to Create your server, pick a plan, then Minecraft and the server type.
- Confirm your email with the code we send. The panel builds the server and installs the game, which takes a few minutes.
- Log in to the panel at game.torchlite.host with the same email and password and press Start.
- Copy the server address from your server's page and add it in Minecraft under Multiplayer.
Your login details arrive by email as well, so you can come back to them later.
What you get besides the server
Every Minecraft server comes with the same panel: a live console, start and stop buttons, resource graphs, an activity log, a file manager and SFTP access. You also get a MySQL database for plugins that need one, such as LuckPerms or CoreProtect, and a backup slot.
More about Minecraft on Torchlite
- Modded servers for modpacks: Forge, NeoForge and Fabric packs, and how much RAM they need.
- Fabric servers: Fabric Loader and mods from Modrinth.
- Bedrock crossplay: let phone, tablet and Windows players join with Geyser.
- Torchlite vs Aternos, if you are coming from there.
Common problems
Players cannot connect. Check that the server has finished starting; the console says "Done" when it is ready. Then make sure players use the same Minecraft version as the server, or install a plugin like ViaVersion on Paper.
The server crashes with a big modpack. If the console shows an out-of-memory error, the pack needs more RAM than your plan has. Big modpacks usually need Max: create the server with NeoForge or Forge and pick Max.
It stopped on its own. The renewal timer ran out. Press Start; your world is still there.
