Terms and Conditions
These terms cover your use of torchlite.host and of the free game servers and Discord bots you create through it. Please read them before you create an account: by creating an account or a server, you agree to them.
01Who we are
Torchlite is a free game hosting service made and paid for by TorchByte. It is operated by ARTAD CREATIVE S.R.L., CUI 52756946, trade register no. J2025081187008, registered office at Str. Republicii nr. 8, bl. 8, sc. C, ap. 13, Suceava, jud. Suceava, Romania ("we", "us").
You can reach us by email at [email protected] or on Discord.
02The service
- Torchlite gives you a game server at no cost, paid for by advertising and by TorchByte. There is no card, no trial and nothing to cancel.
- Capacity is limited. When every slot is taken, new servers wait in a queue and are built in order.
- Plans, games, limits and the number of free servers per account are the ones shown on the site when you create a server, and they may change over time.
- The free service comes without an uptime guarantee (SLA). We do our best to keep it running, but maintenance, outages and changes can happen, sometimes without notice.
- Torchlite is not an official Minecraft service and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Game names and logos belong to their owners. Each game's own licence applies to your server: you accept the Minecraft EULA yourself when your server asks, and where a game needs a licence key of its own (a FiveM key from Cfx.re, for example) you bring yours; we never supply or share keys.
- Your files and databases are yours. You can download them at any time over SFTP, from the file manager or with phpMyAdmin.
03Your account
- Your account lives on the control panel at game.torchlite.host. You create it with an email address and a password, and we may ask you to confirm the address with a code sent to it.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
- Use a real address that you can access, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person, one free allowance. Creating several accounts to get around the per-account limit is not allowed. To enforce it we compare accounts by Discord account and, if you agree to it in the cookie choice, by a random browser id, as the Privacy Policy explains. When they match another account that already has a free server, a new server can be delayed by up to a day, limited to the Lite plan, or refused. A Discord account made in the last few days can take Lite servers only.
- Brothers, sisters, relatives or flatmates who share a computer or a Discord account can open a ticket on our Discord or email us. A person on our team looks at it and can lift the limit for your account. Please do not send identity documents; a short explanation is enough. We may also give one account its own limits, such as the number of servers or how often each plan has to be renewed.
- New accounts need an address from one of the common email providers listed on the sign-up page, such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud or Proton. At most 3 free servers can be requested from one network address in 24 hours, or 12 from a mobile operator's address, which many phones share.
- Before your first server you accept these terms with a tick on the create page. The tick also accepts, expressly, the clauses on liability, on suspension and termination, and on the governing law and courts. We ask again when these terms change in a way that matters.
- You can delete your account yourself on the panel's Account page. Your servers stop at once and everything is deleted 7 days later, unless you change your mind before then.
- Logging in on the website keeps you logged in, so you can create servers without typing your password again: until you close the browser, or for 30 days if you choose "Keep me signed in". Do not choose it on a shared or public device. You can log out at any time from the account menu.
04Keeping your server
- Free servers have to be renewed from the panel at the interval shown for your plan, for example every 30 to 50 minutes for game servers, or once a day for Discord bots, unless we set a different interval for your account. A server that is not renewed stops, and you can start it again.
- Starting a free server and renewing it require watching a short series of ads in the panel, usually two or three. The ads are what pay for the free servers.
- A server on which nothing is done for the inactivity period (shown in the panel and on the create page; it can change) is deleted, together with its files. What counts is activity on that server by you or its subusers, such as starting it, a console command, or a file or setting change; signing in to the panel alone, activity on your other servers and the automatic first start after creation do not. We warn you a day before by email, and on Discord if you linked it. A server that was never started can be scheduled for deletion by our team when its slot is needed, with 24 hours' notice by email and Discord; signing in or starting it in that time keeps it.
- Backups are not guaranteed on the free plan. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.
05Acceptable use
You may not use Torchlite to:
- break the law, or host or share illegal content, malware, or anything that infringes someone else's rights, including pirated games, plugins or mods;
- attack, scan or flood other systems, DDoS included, or run open proxies, VPNs or relays;
- mine cryptocurrency, or run workloads that have nothing to do with the game server or Discord bot you created;
- run selfbots (a bot logged in as a user account), or bots that spam, raid or mass-message people or otherwise break Discord's terms;
- send spam or phishing, or collect other people's data without their permission;
- harass, threaten or exploit others, or host content that sexualises minors;
- get around limits, queues, renewals, the ads required to start or renew a server, or our security measures, or automate the creation of servers or renewals.
The game publishers' own terms, for example Mojang and Microsoft for Minecraft, also apply to your server, and you are responsible for any licence keys you provide.
06Advertising
The service is paid for by ads served by Google, on torchlite.host and in the control panel at game.torchlite.host, including the ads you watch to start or renew a server. No ads are injected into your game server itself, so your players never see them. Google may use cookies to show and measure ads; Google explains how.
07How we moderate
We act on reports and on our own checks. Anyone can report a server, a forum post or anything else we host through the abuse form, or with the Report button on the forum; we confirm the report, look at it and tell the reporter what we decided when they left an email.
- Automatic rules, the same for everyone: the renewal timer stops servers that are not renewed; idle servers are deleted after the inactivity period; servers are stopped when a node runs out of memory; the limits per person, per network and per email provider refuse or slow down new servers; Start and Renew in the panel need the ads to load. The Privacy Policy explains each one.
- Decisions by a person on our team: suspending or deleting a server or an account, deleting a never-started server to free its slot, and removing forum posts. We act on what breaks the law or these terms, and pick the lightest step that solves the problem.
- Whenever we restrict, suspend or delete something of yours, you get the reasons: by email, and on Discord if you linked it, for servers and accounts; under the post, for the forum. They say what we did, why, which rule it rests on, whether it was automatic, and how to contest it.
- To contest a decision, reply to that email, open a ticket on our Discord or write to [email protected] within 6 months. Someone who did not take the first decision reviews it. You can also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body, to the courts, or complain to ANCOM, Romania's Digital Services Coordinator.
- When we learn of a criminal offence that threatens someone's life or safety, we tell the authorities at once.
08Suspension and termination
- We can suspend or delete a server or an account if these terms are broken, if it puts the service or other users at risk, or if the law requires it, without notice when the situation calls for it.
- We can delete servers that are not used to give their slot to someone else: after the inactivity period, or with 24 hours' notice for a server that was never started.
- You can stop using Torchlite at any time and delete your account from the panel's Account page, or ask us to.
- We can change or end the free service, for example its plans, limits or games, when running it requires it. If a change makes it clearly worse for you, you can end the contract at any time and free of charge by deleting your account, after downloading your files. If we end the service, we will try to announce it on the site and on Discord in advance.
09Liability
The free service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profit or indirect damage arising from its use or from it being unavailable.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under Romanian or EU law, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
You accept the limits in this section, together with the clauses on suspension and termination and on the governing law and courts, expressly with the tick on the create page (art. 1203 of the Romanian Civil Code).
10Personal data (GDPR)
We process personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the "GDPR"), with ARTAD CREATIVE S.R.L. as the data controller.
- What we process: your email address and account details; the plan, game and settings you choose for your server; your IP address and technical request data, to prevent abuse and enforce limits; a random browser id and the Discord accounts your account was used with, to keep one free allowance per person; and the emails we send you, such as verification codes and server notices.
- Your password is handled by the panel and stored there only as a hash. While you are logged in on the website, it is kept encrypted with a key that exists only in your browser, and deleted when you log out, after 12 hours, or after 30 days if you chose "Keep me signed in".
- Why: to create and run your account and servers (performance of a contract), to protect the service from abuse and share it fairly, one free allowance per person (legitimate interest), and to show ads (consent, where the law requires it).
- How long: verification codes for 10 minutes, security logs for 30 days, a login on the website for up to 12 hours, or 30 days with "Keep me signed in", and account data for as long as the account exists.
- Cookies and browser storage: a login cookie, while you are logged in; a random browser id, only with your OK, set when you create a server; your language choice and the progress of a server being built, kept in your browser; and the cookies Google uses for ads, on the website and in the panel.
Your rights: you can ask for access to your data, for it to be corrected or deleted, for its processing to be restricted, for a portable copy, or object to the processing, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Contact us using the details above. You can also complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP. More about the GDPR at gdpr.eu.
11Consumer protection
If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will try to sort it out. You can also turn to the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC).
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. We will point out significant changes on the site or by email, and continuing to use Torchlite after that means you accept the new version.
13Points of contact
- For authorities, including orders under the Digital Services Act (art. 11) and removal orders under the terrorist content regulation (Regulation (EU) 2021/784): [email protected].
- For users (Digital Services Act art. 12): [email protected], our Discord or the abuse form. A person answers, not a bot.
- We answer in Romanian or English.
14Governing law
These terms are governed by Romanian law. Disputes we cannot settle amicably go to the competent courts in Romania, without taking away a consumer's right to turn to the courts where they live.
