Unturned servers are joined differently from most games: players do not type an IP, they paste a Server Code that the server gets from Steam. Torchlite installs the official Unturned dedicated server from Steam and keeps it up to date, with RocketMod loaded for plugins.
Plans
| Plan | RAM | CPU | Disk | Renew every |
| Lite | 1.5 GB | 1.25 cores | 15 GB | 50 minutes |
| Turbo | 3 GB | 1.5 cores | 20 GB | 40 minutes |
Both are free. Starting or renewing the server shows a short ad break in the panel, 2 ads on Lite and 3 on Turbo. A small group on one of the standard maps fits on Lite. Pick Turbo for bigger maps, more players or a long list of plugins. The renewal guide explains the Renew timer.
Before you start
- Unturned on Steam for every player. The game is free.
- Optional, a GSLT from Steam, which keeps the Server Code the same between restarts and puts the server in the Internet list.
How to start
- On Create your server, choose a plan, then Unturned.
- Confirm your email with the code we send. The server downloads Unturned from Steam and starts by itself.
- Log in at game.torchlite.host with the same email and password and open the Console.
- Once the console reports
Loading level: 100%, it prints the Server Code, a 17-digit number. Players paste it into the game's Connect Directly menu.
Nobody needs the IP or the port, and no ports have to be opened anywhere: Steam carries the connection.
The Server Code and a GSLT
Without a GSLT, the Server Code changes every time the server starts. On a free server that stops whenever a renewal is missed, that means sending your friends a new code almost every session.
A GSLT, Game Server Login Token, fixes that. It is free from Steam's game server account page, made for App ID 304930. Paste it into GSLT on the Startup page and restart, and the code in the console stays the same from then on. The Unturned guide walks through every step.
Settings and admins
Server Name, Server Password, GSLT and Auto update are on the Startup page. Everything else lives in Servers/PterodactylUnturned, which the server creates on its first start:
Server/Commands.datholds the map, the player limit, the difficulty and the owner, one command per line.Config.txtholds the gameplay settings.Rocketholds RocketMod's configs and plugins.
To make yourself admin, add an Owner line with your Steam ID to Commands.dat and restart. The guide explains how to find your Steam ID.
Common problems
There is no Server Code in the console. The server is still loading. Wait for Loading level: 100%.
Friends' code stopped working. The server restarted without a GSLT, so the code changed. Send the new one, or add a GSLT.
It stopped on its own. The renewal timer ran out. Press Start.
