Hytale is the one game we host only on our largest plan. Its server needs more memory than Turbo's 3 GB, so every Hytale server gets Max and signs in with the owner's own Hytale account.
What you get
Hytale comes on one plan, free like every other:
| Plan | RAM | CPU | Disk | Renew every |
| Max | 4.2 GB | 1.8 cores | 35 GB | 30 minutes |
Max renews more often than the smaller plans because it holds more of the machine, so expect to press Renew every 30 minutes while you play. The renewal guide explains the timer.
Around the official server, the setup adds:
- Updates at every start. With Auto Update on, the server checks for a new version each time it starts. Patchline picks
releaseorpre-release. - World backups every 30 minutes, keeping the last 5, in the
Backupsfolder (Backup Frequency and Backup Max Count). - Copies of earlier server versions, two per patchline by default, so a bad update can be rolled back. That is one reason for the 35 GB disk: the game files include an assets archive of about 3.3 GB.
All of these are switches and fields on the Startup page, already set to sensible values.
Before you start
- Your own Hytale account. The server uses it to download the game files and to sign itself in.
- Hytale for every player, on the same patchline and version as the server.
- Time to stay near the panel. A 10-minute renewal means keeping it open in a tab while you play.
There is no Setup step on the website: the account login happens in the console, on the first start.
How to start
- On Create your server, choose Max, then Hytale. If you pick Hytale on another plan, the website moves you to Max and tells you.
- Confirm your email with the code we send. The server is built and starts by itself.
- Log in at game.torchlite.host and open the Console. It shows a link and a code. Open the link, sign in with your Hytale account and confirm the code.
- The server then downloads the game files. The first start is the slowest; it is ready when the console prints
Hytale Server Booted!. - In Hytale, add the server with the address and port from the panel.
The server remembers the login, so later starts normally go straight through. The first start guide shows each of these screens.
Settings, operators and mods
Server settings live in Server/config.json: ServerName, MOTD, Password, MaxPlayers (20 by default) and MaxViewRadius (12). Edit it with the server stopped, then start it to apply the change.
To make yourself an operator, switch on Allow Self-OP on Startup, restart, and type /op self in game. Switch it off again afterwards, or anyone on the server can do the same.
Mods go in Server/mods. A broken mod stops the server from booting; Ignore Broken Mods lets it start anyway while you find the culprit.
Common problems
The start fails waiting for authorization. The code expired before you confirmed it. Press Start again and use the new link and code straight away.
Players cannot join after a Hytale update. Restart the server so Auto Update can fetch the new version, and check that players and server use the same patchline.
Out of memory with several players. Lower MaxViewRadius in Server/config.json, which limits how far each player can see, or remove heavy mods. Max is our largest plan.
It stopped after 30 minutes. The renewal timer ran out. Keep the panel open and press Renew when it unlocks, in the last 5 minutes of each period.
